steamBug camps integrate various disciplines to prepare our makers for a world of rapidly changing technology! By providing an adaptive learning environment, your child will have the opportunity to design, test and collaborate, re-design, and implement their very own ideas to build some amazing take-home projects that will continue to inspire their innovative spirits long after camp has ended! In addition, each week will culminate in student-lead presentations where our budding makers can show off their creations to the community.

2019 Camp Descriptions:

Summer camp registration is NOW OPEN -- detailed descriptions coming soon!

May 28-31: Kidpreneurs

Ages 6-10
Is your maker always coming up with big ideas? Do they want to be an inventor? Or maybe they love watching Shark Tank and are ready to make a pitch? This week makers will have the opportunity to come up with an idea and learn about what it takes to make a plan and put it into action. From big ideas to big dreams; that’s what the BUG is all about!

June 3-7: Mad Scientist
Ages 6-10
Don't be afraid - this camp is every mad-scientist's dream! Makers will explore the properties of solids, liquids, and gases, to uncover the mysteries of non-newtonian fluids and design their own experiments as they channel their inner Frankenstein!

June 10-14: Minecraft
Ages 6-10
Jump in to the world of MINECRAFT where junior makers will use key elements of economics like supply and demand, trade, and resource management necessary for being successful in both the virtual and real worlds. And let's not forgot about designing your own character skins and PLAYING MINECRAFT on steamBug’s private server!

June 17-21: DIY Dust Makers
Ages 6-10

Let's get messy! This week makers will learn the basics of wood crafting like cutting joints, staining and finishing a project as they build their own tool caddy! Makers will learn how to use a wide variety of tools this week. They'll even have the opportunity to make some tools too!

June 24-28: Under the Stars
Ages 6-10

Learn how to camp, scout-style! Each maker will build their own 3D printed fishing pole and experience living life away from cell phones and virtual realities. Makers will have the opportunity to build floating compasses, forts, and learn important life-skills as they go!

July 8-12: Going Green
Ages
6-10
Help us design and build steamBug's first rainwater reclamation system to use with our tower garden as we learn how to recycle a variety of materials from water and nutrients to plastic and aluminum. Makers will also recycle 3D printer filament into unique works of art and design their own plantable fairy gardens to take home!

July 15-19: Creatures & Critters
Ages 6-10

Walk, crawl, or slither on over as we investigate the creatures and critters all around us! This week, makers will build and code their own hand-held, ultrasonic devices to experience what life would be like as a bat as they try to pass an obstacle course challenge!

July 22-26: Mind & Body
Ages 6-10
For our budding biologists - this week is all about the human body, what makes us tick and how to calm ourselves in times of stress. Makers will build their own 3D printed pulse-rate monitors, learn basic coding skills, practice yoga, and learn mindfulness techniques to help them cope with stress as another school semester is just around the corner.
